A simple guide to the Glenn Roeder race day

For those not familiar with a day at the races, outlined here are your various options on July 23rd 2022 should you wish to attend or become involved in the Glenn Roeder Race Day in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity, with all surplus monies raised for the day going direct to the charity.

The object of the day is to highlight the Brain Tumour Charity and help raise much needed funds to research this disease.

Who was Glenn Roeder?

Glenn was a professional top level footballer who played and managed such teams as Newcastle , West Ham, Norwich and Watford to mention but a few.  He was known on and off the pitch as a top athlete and a terrific family man. 19 years ago, Glenn was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and went through many years of treatments and operations. Sadly on February 28th 2021, Glenn’s final whistle blew and he passed away from the disease.

Why a Glenn Roeder Race Day?

Outside of football, Glenn was fascinated with the horse racing industry. He loved all the various aspects of a day at the races. He loved hearing all the stories. He loved chatting to those involved. And so when Glenn Passed, his family thought that it would be a fitting tribute to Glenn to host a fund-raising horse racing day in his memory.

When & where is it happening?

On July 23rd 2022, The Glenn Roeder Race Day will take place on The July Course at the world famous Newmarket Racecourse.

Race sponsorship

In brief, as a race sponsor you will have access to the parade ring in advance of your race with a group of your friends or work colleagues. Your company brand will be visible both within the parade ring and on the digital screens across the racecourse facility. You will be asked to judge the best looking horse in the ring - this is called ‘The Best Turned Out’ and the groom of the best turned out will receive a cash prize - which will be part of the sponsorship fee.

As a sponsor, you will be invited by a committee member to view your race from a privileged position. After your race, you will be asked to make the presentation to the winning connections and the to join them to watch a replay of your race in the winnings connection private bar. Here you will share a celebratory glass of champagne with the winning connections. There will be a number of photo opportunities for you and your guests throughout the period of your specific race on the day. We will ensure that all sponsors will receive their photos on the day to use on their social media platforms.

This is an exciting and fun way to get your brand noticed and to perhaps entertain your key clients to a very special day at the races. Except this time you will be inside the parade ring and the centre of attention as opposed to watching from the sidelines.

Within this sponsorship package: branding, trophies, champagne and the Best Turned Out prize are all included.

Auction Items

We are currently sourcing a wide variety of unique auction items that will form part of both the live auction and the online auction on the day. If you were in a position to either suggest or provide something special for the auctions then we would be delighted to hear from you. Our preference is to source items that would fall into the category of “money can’t buy”, so please do get in touch if you have access to something along those lines.
